Frequently Asked Questions
about the Rogers Dance Team

Q: Is there a difference between the Rogers Dance Team and the Rogers Fall Performance Team?
A: YES! The Rogers Dance Team (RDT) is a competitive team that must follow the rules set forth by RHS and the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL). RDT competes regularly in both jazz and high kick styles during their winter season (October to February) and ends with sections and a State Tournament where a State Champion for jazz and high kick is named for A, AA, AAA schools.

The Rogers Fall Performance Team (RFPT) is a non-competitive performance group that runs from mid-August - mid-October each year. These dancers will perform at halftime of Rogers home football games, Homecoming Pep-Fest, and other exhibition shows during their season. There are no set dance style requirements for RFPT. Dances are usually a high energy combination of pom, jazz, hip-hop, and high kick. For more information about RFPT please click the link above.

Due to MSHSL regulations these teams do not share coaches.
Q: Can I participate in both RDT and RFPT?
A:  YES!  Many of our dancers participate in both groups, but it is not required.  Some dancers choose to participate with only one of the 2 teams.
Q: Do I have to try out?
A: Yes, we do require all dancers to tryout.  Tryouts are usually a short 3 day process where the first 2 days are spent learning a short combination and performing for our coaches on the 3rd day.  These auditions are held in the spring and will be announced on our website and social media accounts.
Q: Can I still dance at my studio and join one or both of the Rogers High School teams?
A: YES! Dancing with one or both of the Rogers teams and at a studio CAN be done. Dancing both for RHS and a studio will require excellent time management, hard work, and communication with both programs. Many RHS dancers are members of their studio's competitive teams. RDT and RFPT coaches will make efforts to work with your studio schedule. Please check with your studio for information on their policies regarding participation on an RHS team while dancing at the studio.
